History

Founded in 1933, Baston School grew rapidly to accommodate around 100 pupils prior to the Second World War. During the war the school was evacuated, first to Hope Cove in Devon and then to Galhampton in Somerset.  Baston returned to its present location in 1945.

Latterly, the school again increased its size and continually improved its facilities to reach the high standard of education and accommodation it offers today.

Baston School

Baston is a small, traditional, non-selective independent day school, located in south-east England, on the outskirts of Bromley, close to bus routes, stations and central London. The school offers continuity of high quality education for girls aged from two-and-a-half to sixteen and currently comprises around 150 pupils.

We aim to provide a full academic and practical education in a vibrant, happy and supportive environment. This web site is designed to give you a glimpse of life at Baston School, as well as an indication of our curriculum and facilities. We hope it will encourage you to visit us, to meet our staff and pupils and see for yourselves what we have to offer.

The School is divided into three departments, catering for girls from 2½ years old through to 16 years old.

The Early Years Department accepts pupils from the age of 2½ years and consists of three classes, Lower Kindergarten, Upper Kindergarten and Reception.

In the two Kindergarten classes girls may attend for morning or afternoon sessions or almost any combination of these.  Girls start full time school and move into Reception in the September following their fourth birthday.

The Junior Department  Girls move into the Junior School after their year in Reception and move up through the school into Year 6 at the age of ten.  At the end of that year pupils are ready to move into the Senior School.

The Senior School takes in pupils from both state and independent schools and of course our own Junior School at the age of eleven.  Girls spend five years in the Senior School culminating in the GCSE examinations at the end of Year 11.
