BASTON BULLETIN A fortnightly report of events in the School 2 November 2007 A WARM WELCOME to the new girls who joined us this half term and we hope you will enjoy your time at Baston! Holly Corcoran Year 10 Francesca Jones Lower Kindergarten Hayley Shaw Year 6
GCSE PRESENTATION On Thursday 16 October, last year’s Year 11 girls were presented with their well-deserved GCSE Certificates. It was delightful to see them again and catch up with how happy and settled they are in their new schools. Rebecca Orme was presented with the Rana Cup, for the best GCSE results and Helen Jordon was awarded with the Endeavour Cup for her great efforts in achieving good GCSE results – our congratulations go to both girls
UNDER THE SEA On Tuesday 16 October girls from Reception to Year 3 enjoyed participating in a Drama Workshop from Perform, a visiting drama group. They were taken on a fascinating journey ‘under the sea’ where they met sharks and a whole array of under water life - amazingly they all ended their journey completely dry!!
STEPPING INTO THE PAST Years 1 and 2 went back to Victorian times when they visited Yesterday’s World in Battle. They walked down cobbled streets, gazing into shop windows bursting with artefacts. They found out what jobs had to be done in the Victorian kitchen and handled a variety of implements. The train journey, shops and the school in the school play area made it the best outing ever.
CAKE & BISCUIT SALE Year 11 raised £25.00 on 16 October selling their home made cakes and biscuits. A BIG thank you to girls and parents for all your generous donations in making and buying cakes for the girls to sell. Our last Cake & Biscuit sale will be under ‘the management’ of Year 10 on 13 November. So there’s plenty of time to save those pennies – all donations will be used in making up Christmas parcels for the elderly in Isard House. Our running total to date is £92.12.
SPARKLING SPOOKS were spotted at the Pavilion on Wednesday 31 October, with witches, goblins, pumpkins and black cats galore! Most of the Baston girls aged between two and a half and nine had an uproarious time at the Parents’ Association Hallowe’en Party. The costumes were just amazing. Well done to Poppy Cooney - UKg, Brooke Bullion - Reception, Elle Palmer - Year 3 and Alannah Sweeting - Year 4 for wining prizes for the best costumes. A BIG thank you to members of the Parents’ Association for organising this excellent event.
